MTV News Interview

"I haven't worn a necktie in a very long time," Avril told MTV news.

"My skate clothes and really baggy pants... I still have them all in my closet, but now I wear cute clothes, tighter pants and lower shirts. I mean, that's just because I'm older. I didn't care about that before, and obviously styles change, and we change. It's all everyone's talking about these days — how I've gone all glam." All this probably has more than a little to do with being married. "Married life f---in' rocks!" she said. "If you're with the right person, it's amazing."It also explains why her upcoming album will have less angst, more fun and more love songs. Avril said she's almost finished working on the album, for which she's written 15 songs — collaborating with Deryck on the more rock-leaning material."I've got to say, this record is going to be so much fun. It's really upbeat. I have a few love songs — it's so funny," she said, giggling. "Of course, I still have my boy-bashing songs, but they're very playful. So the record is really fun and cool and different, and honestly I think it's my best record yet. I can say that with confidence."Aside from Deryck, collaborators on the album include Rob Cavallo (Green Day), Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson) and a return engagement with Butch Walker. "I'm doing my ballads with Rob Cavallo, I give my pop-rock songs to Butch, I give my rock songs to Deryck, and Luke has been experimenting with different sounds and stuff," she said.
